About

The Department of Geography was established in Bangabasi College on 25th July 2003 and since then it has tried to cater to the needs of the students as well as the society by imparting quality education in both Honours and General courses. There has been a consistent and tremendous demand among students to study Geography as an Honours subject. This is evident from the increasing number of applicants at the commencement of each session. The Department thus has to be extremely stringent to select the best from the lot. The faculty members try utmost to deliver their best within the available infrastructure.

Add-on Certificate Courses

Department of Geography has started to conduct a certificate course on ‘Hazard Management’. The duration of the course is 30 hrs. The course is designed to help the students to understand the basic concepts of various theoretical aspects of Hazard Management and provide hands-on training, practical demonstrations and outdoor classes, enabling them to practice the methods and work independently. The participants are mostly current students of the College. The course has been designed in such a way that it will help them to gain additional as well as specialized knowledge in the subject also.

  • The faculty as well as the students take part in various seminars and lectures to update themselves for academic interest.
  • According to the university curriculum students learn to do field surveys in problem areas and they also have to work within the laboratory premises for practical papers. 
  • Remedial classes are held in the Department for improving performance of students in University Examination.
  • Faculty and students participate in seminars, debates, exhibitions and other co-curricular activities.
  • Infrastructural Facilities: WiFi Connection, GIS Laboratory, Soil Analysis, ICT Class Room, Different Instruments etc.
