About

Psychology was introduced in Bangabasi College as a subsidiary subject in 2006 and as an Honours subject in 2007. From that instant the subject was an instant favorite among all classes of students in the present academic as well as socio-economic scenario, who intended to opt for the subject either as a Honours or as a combination in their B.A or B.Sc course. The department also has students coming in from remote north eastern corners of the country.

Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) - Psychology Honours and General Degree courses. The syllabus comprises of Core Courses, Skill Enhancement Courses and Discipline Specific Electives.

National Education Policy (NEP 2022) - Psychology Major, Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary courses. The syllabus comprises of Core Courses, Skill Enhancement Courses and Interdisciplinary courses.

The Department of Psychology conducts an Add-on Course on “Stress and Coping” for the undergraduate level Honours/Major candidates. The course intends to equip the students with knowledge as well as practical strategies to cope with stress thereby improving their productivity and promoting well-being.

Facilities

  • The Department has a well-furnished laboratory for both Honours and General course students. Sophisticated instruments like Kymograph,Electric Motor, SumonApparentimer, SumonResponsescope, Aesthesiometer, weight cylinders, ergograph etc. are present.
  • The seminar library houses approximately 50 Text books & reference books, both in English & Bengali, for lending to both Honours and General Course students.
  • There is also a laptop & printer for use in the Department.
  • The students along with the faculty participate in many extra-curricular activities such as attending seminars, conferences, workshops etc., Exhibition, publication of wall magazine etc.
  • The faculty provides psychological counseling to students of all Departments of the College as and when necessary.
  • The faculty keeps a strict vigil on academic performance of students by regular class tests apart from College Examinations.
