The Anthropological laboratory of Bangabasi College is extremely well-equipped for covering the undergraduate Honours and General syllabi. For taking measurements, there are sufficient number ofinstruments like Martin's spreading callipers, Martin's sliding callipers, Martin's anthropometers, Harpenden skinfold calliper, weighing machine, sphygmomanometer etc. to conduct the practical classes of Anthropometry. There are equipments like centrifuge to determine the ABO blood groups.Besides ABO blood group, colour blindness, phenylthiocarbamide (PTC) tasting abilityas well as dermatoglyphic tests are also done in the laboratory, as per the syllabus. Moreover, the laboratory has adequate number of human skulls, individual bones and articulated full human skeleton. There are casts of fossil primates like Australopithecus africanus skull, calottes of Sinanthropuspekinensis and Pithecanthropus erectus; casts of La-Chapelle-Aux-Saints and Cromagnon crania; a cast of Dryopithecusmandible; and a stuffed specimen of a prosimian (lower primate). Among the living primates, there is an original skull of gibbon, and casts of gorilla, chimpanzee and orang-utan. In the context of social cultural anthropology, there are models of different kinds of fishing traps and nets, ploughs and hoes, used in different environmental settings. There is also a model of a husking lever. For ethnographic field-work, there are audio-visual facilities. Furthermore, regarding archaeological anthropology, there are sufficient numbers of original specimens of lower, middle, upper Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, and Neolithic tools from India.
